In making a cut of the 1/2" thick cement board to fit the remaining part of the wall, I cut a little too short on a portion of the board and now there is a 1/2" gap between that cement board and the one below it. There is old drywall underneath that shows. So it's not a hollow void between wall studs. What's best to fill this gap with before I waterproof and add fiber mesh tape to the seams? Thinset? Mortar caulk? silicon caulk? Thanks in advance for the help.
