Nobody posted how to disassemble the dryer of a GE combo unit, but I figured it out and thought I would let others know. To get to the working parts you must remove the drum. (The usual caution, please don't forget to unplug the unit.)
1. Remove the slanted panel above the washer, by removing the two screws at the upper corners of the panel. Then you can lift off the panel. (If you will need to pull the unit out of a closet, you can now reach through the hole to loosen the air duct.)
2. For better access, you may also want to remove the galvanized metal sheet exposed by step 1, by removing all its screws.
3. Remove the control panel, by removing the two screws on tabs below the bottom corners of the control panel. Also remove two tiny screws near the ones in the tabs. Then slide the control panel down slightly and it will lift off. You can leave it hanging on its wires, except uncouple the connector for the wires leading to the door switch.
4. Remove the top of the unit by removing all the screws on the top, except loosen but do not remove the screw in the center of the front edge.
5. Remove the front panel containing the door, by first popping out the plastic buttons on the duct where the lint filter sits, and then removing the two screws on tabs below the bottom corners of the door panel. (The upper screws for the door panel were removed in step 4.) Support the drum as you pull off the door panel and disengage it from the duct.
6. Remove the drum by first relaxing the tension on the belt by reaching into the unit below the drum and disengaging the tension pulley. Then reaching into the drum, remove the three screws at the back, and lift out the drum.
