Want to build storage and ladder system in garage

So one of the things that really annoys me about my new house is that the only way into the attic is through the garage ceiling. The previous owners decided to attach that steel shelving unit to the wall directly below it.



Last year i moved in, so this was #400 on my list of stuff i wanted to get to.



I was just cleaning out the garage today and was looking at it.



I think what I want to do is figure out a way to install some new shelving with maybe some sort of ladder installed along with it? If that makes sense.



Basically shelving that I can use to quickly climb up to get into the crawl space.



Anyone have any ideas?
