I have a Culligan HE softener system that was installed about 2 years ago.
I noticed a few days ago that for some reason the system thinks we are using 900-1000 gallons of water per day, when we really use more like 150-200 gallons. I've been monitoring the system, and there are times it indicates we have water flow when there is no flow, and sometimes it indicates there is 20 gpm flow when there is no flow.
This is causing the softener to regenerate every other day. I am guessing this is a problem with the flow meter itself? Hopefully not a problem with the board itself. I've looked at this circuit board, and there connection of the meter to the board is good. I've also left power off to the system for an hour or so, and that didn't seem to help.
Any suggestions of why this might be happening? Is a replacement of the flow meter a good next step?
I've called and made an appointment with Culligan, but they can't come for a week and a half, and I'd prefer to save the hefty service fee and fix it myself, if possible.
I'd appreciate any assistance anyone can provide. Let me know if I should provide more information.
Thank you,
Nevin
