I have just bought a house that is 100 years old, after removing the stairs carpet i have noticed that the stairs slightly sloop to one side. The stairs (one of the stingers) are attached to one wall and the other is open. I also noticed (after i removed the hard board) that the spindles bout half way up the stair case have lifted out of their recesses on the stair treads, another reason i think i have a bowed stinger. I don't know if someone has some experience of this or not but am i right in thinking that i could insert a more substantial support under the stringer to lift the bow out of the stringer and help the spindles seat back into their respective holes.
please give advice if you can, it would be greatly appreciated
