Bar in Alcove

Hoping I posted this in the most relevant place.



I have an alcove in my living room that is approx 3 feet deep and 5 feet across. I would like to install a bar here.



It currently has a mirror on all 3 walls of it starting at about 3 feet from the ground and going up for about 4 feet, with another foot of bare walls above it, blocked by an alcove hang (so if you're standing 5 feet away from it facing it, you can't see the bare walls above the mirror in the alcove).



Here are my questions:



1. What is the best way to create a bar-like counter given leaving the mirror there and putting the counter right below where the mirror starts? (Hoping to put wine fridge below the counter, so would like the free space under it.



2. I want to have a suspended glass rack hanging from the ceiling (something similar to: http://ift.tt/1P7qk4T) but the ceiling is an entire foot above the top of the mirror and I'd like it to hang right around the mirror - any advice?
