Floor tile pattern - Random

I am laying 11.75 x 11.75 tiles on the floor of a small bathroom. I wanted to use a pattern similar to the look of subway tiles, but am finding that if I lay the tiles in a precise pattern, I end up with a sliver of a tile on one end (3 inches wide), on every other row, which I know you are supposed to avoid doing.



Does anyone have suggestions? I thought of making the grout lines random but was not sure if that was ever done.
