Kenmore model 110.86562501
Today we could not remove the lint screen the normal way. We pulled the plastic vent panel inside the dryer that is in front of the lint screen and was able to remove it.
There is a spring steel finger that engages the bottom of the lint screen and forces the lint screen towards the rear of the dryer and that ensures a good seal so lint does not get by the bottom of the screen.
The spring steel finger actually goes through a slot so I can't see where or what attaches it so it can't move. I can move the finger up and down a bit in the slot. If I push it further in the lint screen comes out as normal but eventually after placing the lint screen back into place the steel finger moves down and interferes with removal. You can see where the clip engages on bottom edge of the lint screen. If I grind a bit of the edge so it is angled rather than a 90 degree edge it might solve the problem. But before I do that is anyone familiar with this issue. TIA.
