Removing load bearing wall

I want to remove a load bearing wall. I have had two contractors tell me I can put a LVL beam on top of the ceiling joists and hang the joists from the LVL beam, then take the wall down. The wall being removed is 12' plus a 4' doorway header, total 16' opening. I have a rafter style roof. What size LVL beam do I need, and what type of hangers?
