Wacky Refrigerators

Hi all!

I had a new fridge which came with my apartment, and an old fridge on the porch. After sky-high electricity bills month after month, i switched the new fridge for t he old fridge outside, and the bill went down.

I bought a few watt-usage meters and measured the use of both fridges. The old one (now indoors) used around 4 kw/day. and the new one (now outdoors, plugged in, with just a few large waterbottles in the fridge and freezer, used about the same.

So i brought the nicer, newer fridge back indoors, and filled it up. Now it uses around 7-10kw/day.

It's springtime outside, so i dont think temperature makes that much of a difference.

I also thhought that the fridge being more full makes it use less electricty..

If the thermostat is broken, why would it use a normal amount when it's outside?
