We hired a local company to move our dryer gas line and vent. We expected them to drill straight through the tile floor to the basement below but instead they went from the basement, into the attached garage, runs exposed on the garage wall for a couple of feet and back into the house. They used some yellow foam insulation around the penetrations when we just stared at them, but this doesn't seem safe to run copper gas pipe exposed in the garage where the kids can easily bump it. Can gas freeze? We are in Minnesota and the garage is uninsulated.
When the radon contractor put a pipe between the house and garage he used a special collar and fire stopping material that is red. It was a bigger pipe, but it was very professionally installed.
