Relatively new to well and septic. Been in the house about a year - moved in March 2014. Still unpacking, painting, etc.
Here is what I have:
Medallist 30 with 18” brine tank-installed 10/20/2006.
3/4” Accudose feeder-installed 10/20/2006. This is the chemical feeder pump that the soda ash goes into.
Davey booster pump-installed 2/9/2007.
The water tastes, smells and appears fine. I did have a well company come and look at the expansion tank, etc in July. Everything checked out and they took two water samples - raw and treated (before the expansion tank and from the kitchen sink)
Here are the results:

Seems ok to me.
On a note - I have not added any soda ash to the system since moving in.
Yet here is what the well company said last July: "suggesting we bypass the water softener since it is not being maintained and our water analysis indicates it is loaded up with accumulated minerals.
The raw water quality is quite good and the only thing you may consider is replacing the old water softener with a full size 13x54 backwashing, Air Purge filter bedded with high quality Calgon activated carbon for 2398.00. This unit would address the iron, manganese and remove any radon gas that may be present, while not using any salt or adding anything to the water."
What?!??!? $2400????
As for not being maintained - I forgot to add salt for a month or so after we moved in - oops. lot going on - had 3 kids under age 5 also at the time.
I have been keeping up with the salt consistently since July 2014. Thinking of getting another water sample test again and see what the values are.
Oh - and I do know that the resin was "refreshed" in 2/2009. I assume it is still working?
Any thoughts?
