I bought a Senville aura 18000btu heat pump and installed it myself. The install went stright forward. Vaccumed lines down to 400 microns where it held at 600 for 10 minutes. Released a small amount of gas and checked for leaks. Everything looked good and released the rest. I have since double checked all connections and they are all good.
My issue is that the heat pump is not putting out the heat like it should. This is my second Senville. I previously installed a 12000 btu and that one puts out way more heat than the 18000. I am currently suspecting sensor issues which I will explain later.
The heat pump comprssor never ramps up to full speed. It is rated for 9.45 amps, but it has never drawn more than 6 amps. It alwasy runs at the same medium speed and never puts out enough heat to bring the house up to temperature. I took some readings yesterday that I hope will help some.
Inside temperature 66F
Outside Temperature 14F
Suction temp at 3 way valve (big line) 150F
Liquid temp at 2 way valve (small line) 86F
Pressure at 3 way valve in heat mode 340psi
Draw from compressor 5.7 amps
Output temp from Head 95F
I had suspected the unit may have come undercharged, but I am not so sure now. Ttoday I tried pulling the pipe temp sensor in the head unit, and the compressor imediately ramped up to full speed and the head coil raised significatly in temperature. The indoor fan did not come on but I suspect that is becasue the pipe temp sensor also controls when the fan comes on, and since it was pulled from the pipes, it thoguht the coil was too cool.
Is there another sensor in the outsode unit that may be defective or in the wrong palce that would preventt he comprssor from running at full speed becasue it thinks the demand it is runnign at is sufficant?
Thanks for the help in advance.
