New work electrical box

Can anyone tell me what the "hinged closure" for the carlon sno-18-R electrical box is for?

Don't you normally drywall first and then wire your outlets? I'm assuming the area closed by this "closure" gets dry walled over. is that not how this box works?

Basement Wall Insulation Options

Hello,

I'm hoping for input on the "best" options for temperature and moisture control as I look to finish a basement. I've heard about wood studs, metal studs, or applied furring. I've heard of bat insulation, rigid foam boards, spray foam, using no insulation, or "InSoFast" panels. There seem to be a lot of options out there and people seems to have their favorites, but I'm looking for a good long-term solution.

Here is my situation: 2 year old home with 8" thick poured concrete walls with mastic spray applied waterproofing and WatchDog insulation on the exterior of the foundation. There is exterior and interior drain tile with a sealed sump basket and passive radon venting. The rim joists have (closed cell?) spray foam to R19 and there is spray foam under the slab (which is also run for radiant heat, though it's not hooked up).

Cost is always a factor (the sky is NOT the limit), but within reason I'd rather pay a little more now to have long-term benefits of a comfortable and healthy home. So, what seems to be the best solution in this situation?

Thanks,

Guy

Yahoo Toolbar

OK, easy question, just realized that my daughters computer has only had internet explorer, so I upgraded her to Firefox. I got bombarded with Yahoo everything, opened up a couple of background pages as well. How to I get rid of the Yahoo toolbar? Been to options and unchecked everything except google. Went to edit toolbar and removed every annoying thing on the toolbar, but can't get rid of the toobar itself. It even tried to set yahoo as the default home page.

Wireless motion sensor 5890 PI chiming intermittently

I have an Ademco Vista P-20 panel. The motion sensor is the only wireless part of the system. All doors, etc are wired. The sensor is about 5 years old model 5890 PI. For the last two days an intermittent chime is audible. The keypad says "check zone 13" which is the wireless sensor zone.

I changed the batteries just for the heck of it. Still chimes occasionally. The sensor does set off an alarm when armed. So, the sensor is doing it's job; but, I hear this chime on occasion throughout the day (and I'm sure the night). We don't hear it upstairs.

Any suggestions? At one point I turned off the chime from the keypad but it still chimes.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Kitchen Exhaust Fans in Series

I have a roof mounted fan connected to a duct that the microwave exhaust is connected to. It seems that if I'm using the microwave fan only and then turn on the roof fan the microwave fan make a groaning sound and seems to slow down or even stop. Using each fan independently works fine. I just would like to get the maximum exhaust possible. What is happening and any tests I can do? Thanks for your help.

DSC1832 swapping glass break detector

I have a monitored system with the DSC1832 control unit. It currently has a motion detector in the family room that is covered by curtains. Can I just swap out the motion for a glass break detector without any reprogramming of the 132? If so, what model works well?
