Putting in Bigger Basement Window/Outside Window Well - General Questions

Hi Guys,

I am getting ready to dig out my foundation in order to have a crack fixed and to add a bigger window so that I can have a legal bedroom in my basement. I will have to add a window well, and I know nothing about this, so I'm looking for advice.

I was speaking to a guy yesterday, and he was telling me I need to put one of those black drain pipes with holes in it at the bottom of my window well, run it down and basically just make it drain out under the house.

I would also put a mesh of some sort over it and top that with 3/4 stone.

Is this the correct approach/is there anything else I should be made aware of?
