Can't get wire nuts off ceiling light kit

Hello,



Trying to replace my current ceiling fan light kit. Ran into difficulty early and am having difficulty removing the wire nuts off of the current kit/wires. I have tried turning and turning (with pliers as well) without any luck. It appears that they do not have threads though and maybe my turning is in vain. The nuts look like they are just metal (covered in plastic) that have been compressed over the wire ends.



How do I get these off?
