My new tub required a mixer valved to be installed in the linen closet. The opening is approximately 9"X9". Unfortunately, the only spring fit access panel is 10"X10" (supports 8"X8" maximum opening) or a 14"X14" which is too big. I could just use adhesive with the 10"X10" to cover the opening and not utilize the spring fit feature. Do I have other easy DIY options? Is there some sort of plastic shielding for the sheetrock that would leave the mixer valve exposed but covers the cut ends of thes heetrock? Is this something I rarely will need access to? It seems like a set-it-and-forget-it.
